The University of MN academic, research and outreach programs for high performance housing are nationally recognized for their work addressing cold climate housing systems, and fenestration and foundation subsystems. They are also a leader in building science education. They have successfully paired their building science academic learning with the DOE Race to Zero experiential learning. They offer a 4-year degree program in building science and technology as well as graduate building science courses.

Several modules focus on hygrothermal (heat, air, moisture) performance and analysis. Use of the modules is restricted to non-commercial, education purposes.
